Salam alaikum
Like many people, my heart breaks for those living in severe poverty, especially in Lebanon. Over recent years, the people of Lebanon have suffered not only from extreme financial hardship, but also from Israeli bombing and violence that has killed many of their men, women, and children, leaving families homeless and entire neighbourhoods reduced to rubble.
Despite all of this suffering, they have not abandoned their values. They have continued to stand firm, to resist injustice, and to support oppressed people — including the people of Palestine. Their resilience in the face of such hardship is deeply moving.
For many of us living in the West, it is easy to feel overwhelmed and powerless. We see the images, we grieve, and we feel there is nothing we can do. But this is not true. Every individual has the ability to make an impact. When small actions come together, they create real change.
We must not remain paralysed by sadness. We must take action.
One way to do this is by donating to families living in severe poverty, helping them meet their most basic needs. No amount is too small — every contribution matters and can make a real difference in someone’s life.
May Allah reward you for your generosity, in this world and the next, as He has promised.
The example of those who spend their wealth in the way of Allāh is like a seed [of grain] which grows seven spikes; in each spike is a hundred grains. And Allāh multiplies [His reward] for whom He wills. And Allāh is all-Encompassing and Knowing.
