At 5,895 metres (19,341 ft) above sea level, Mount Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain in Africa and the world’s highest free-standing mountain. The journey to its summit takes you through five distinct climate zones, from lush tropical rainforest to an icy, barren alpine landscape, all over the course of 8 days. From the summit, the vast Tanzanian landscape stretches out below, with the horizon opening up to breathtaking views across East Africa.
On 27 September 2026, I will begin my highly anticipated climb to the peak of Africa — a personal ambition I have carried with me for many years. As I step into the wilderness of the mountain, I want to approach this journey with humility, gratitude and purpose, keeping three things close to heart:
- Respect the sanctity of the mountain and the life that God has breathed into it. Every landscape, every creature and every moment on the mountain is a reminder of the beauty of His creation. I will consciously tread lightly in admiration of His manifestation surrounding me.
- Embrace every step of the journey. The goal may be the summit, but the journey is what makes the climb meaningful. It is not about how quickly we reach the top, but about slowing down enough to appreciate the views, the challenges, the conversations and the friendships we create along the way.
- Draw strength from the resilience of our brothers and sisters in Lebanon and Palestine, whose courage in the face of immense suffering reminds us of the strength of the human spirit. I dedicate this climb to the loved ones we have lost, to the relationships we have gained, and especially to the orphaned children whose pain will be carried in all our hearts.
I have created this fundraiser to deliver donations directly to Lebanese families in need of support to meet their essential needs during this exceptional time. These needs include, but are not limited to: Food and drink, temporary housing and utilities, travel, clothing, and urgent medical care.
Money will be directly distributed according to a needs assessment based on each family’s circumstances. Accounts will be recorded to track where the donations are sent and how they are used. For transparency, receipts and images depicting how the funds have been utilised will be shared with mysadaqa where possible.
