One Goal. Six Cities. Infinite Vision.
A Legacy of Sight
I’m embarking on the Super Halves—an epic three-year journey to complete six of the world’s most iconic half-marathons. But as I lace up my trainers to hit the pavement in Lisbon, Prague, Berlin, Copenhagen, Cardiff, and Valencia, I’m running for something much bigger than a medal.
I’m running to protect the gift of sight.
I am lacing up my running shoes for the KSI Charitable Eye Centre (KSICEC) in Tanzania. My goal is to raise £10,000 specifically for the KSICEC Endowment Fund.
Why an Endowment?
While a single surgery changes one life, an endowment changes thousands for generations.
• The Mission: The fund was launched in 2024 with a target of $2 Million to make the clinic completely self-sustaining.
• The Sustainability: Once fully funded, the income from the endowment will be sufficient to meet all recurrent expenses, ensuring the clinic never has to turn a patient away due to lack of funds
• The Impact: With a projected 12% return on interest, your donation becomes a perpetual engine for healing, saving eyes year after year.
• Total Transparency: I am personally covering 100% of my own travel, registration, and race expenses. Every penny you donate goes directly into the Endowment Fund to build a permanent legacy of sight. (less platform admin fees)
My Journey: From "Couch to Couch" to the Super Halves
This mission is fueled by my own transformation. In December 2023, at age 63, I was sedentary and joked that my only fitness level was a "Couch to Couch" program. I would not last run of more than one minute before getting short of breath
Through discipline and community support, I have since:
• Completed the C25K program and my first 5K.
• Ran my first Half Marathon at age 64 alongside my son.
• Conquered the 2025 London Marathon.
Now, I am taking on the Super Halves—six iconic half-marathons across Europe over the next three years—to prove that it is never too late to change your life, or someone else's.
Real Impact
The KSI Charitable Eye Centre is a beacon of excellence in Dar es Salaam. As of early 2026, the impact is staggering:
• 178,000+ total patient visits since opening.
• 8,300+ successful cataract surgeries performed.
• 70,000 registered patients reached by 2026.
• 90%+ surgery success rate, restoring independence to the most vulnerable.
Will you help me reach the $2M milestone? Whether you are giving to save a pair of eyes today or investing in a legacy of sight through the endowment, your support is my fuel for every mile.
