Background
In Eravur, a city on the Eastern coast of Sri Lanka, the local Shia ithna ashari community - who essentially comprises of brothers and sisters who reverted to Shiism - is in need of our help. A plot has been found and now purchased for them to build a hussainiyah to carry on religious activities such as majalis, mawalid and Islamic classes, but they are now in need of additional funds for the construction of such centre. The amount needed currently is of £15,000.
This is an important sadaqa jariya project, where you can play a crucial role in the future of this isolated Shia community. We pray your contribution, no matter how small, serves as a source of continuous blessings for you and your loved ones.
We shall endeavour to update this page with the progress made thanks to your donations. May Allah (swt) bless you and always increase your tawfeeq.
How is sadaqah jariyah different from sadaqah?
Sadaqah jariyah is a continuous, ongoing charity — a type of sadaqa that keeps benefiting others over time, and the reward continues even after the giver dies. This concept is present in the holy qur'an, in surah Ya-sin (36:12).
In reference to sadaqah jariyah, Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq (as) said in Wasā'il al-Shīʿa:
"Six things benefit a person after death: a righteous child who seeks forgiveness for him, a copy of the Qur'an he leaves behind, a well he dug, a tree he planted, charity he gave while alive such that it continues after his death, and knowledge he passed on."
Imam Ja'far al-Sadiq (as) also said:
"Whoever helps build a mosque, even if as small as a bird’s nest, Allah will build for him a house in Paradise."
By contributing to this project, every salah, every majlis, every tear shed or lecture held in this future hussainiyah shall be counted in your scale of deeds.
