Tamani Foundation (TF) is a free education school; providing an early childhood and primary curriculum on the island of Zanzibar, off the coast of Tanzania. In January 2012, TF started by focusing on bridging the education gap caused by a lack of emphasis placed on early education in the Zanzibar school system thereby establishing a nursery school for children for the ages of 4. In tandem, 2012 also saw the launch of an adult education initiative at TF, to bring the benefits of an education to both generations. There are now 200 students in the Nursery and Primary level.
Tamani school is currently under resourced. Like every initiative in the pursuit of change and education, it requires support - be that through volunteering ones expertise, funding or resources. This provides us with a unique opportunity to give back from the advantages we enjoy.
By coming together as a community we have the ability to effect significant change in the lives of others.
As a community we hope to source:
Library shelving and furniture
Projector and pulldown screen
Bean bags/rugs/floor seating
Picture books, fiction and nonfiction books
A selection of books for english speaking practice for adult education classes
Oxford reading schemes
