Hujjat Primary School (HPS), Harrow’s first Muslim faith free school, will be undertaking a project to create a new prayer room and an inspiring Islamic-themed art design to the school.
Located in the Austen Building of the Harrow College campus in Harrow Weald, HPS opened in September 2020 and currently has 120 children across Reception and Year 1, and is expected to reach full capacity of 420 pupils by 2026. While funding for the main refurbishment of the school was provided by the Department of Education, it did not cover the prayer room or any design features, which is the purpose of this project.
The Islamic-themed design project, comprising of a mixture of calligraphic, geometric and abstract floral patterns, murals and paintings, is intended to reinforce the Islamic character of the school and create an inspirational and conducive environment for pupils and staff.
