If you know me then you know that the most intense physical activity I get in a week is running to make the train, so it might come as a surprise that this potato has decided to climb Yr Wyddfa (Mt Snowdon)! But beyond this physical challenge that I've set myself lies a far more meaningful motive - to raise funds for people in need of clean and safe drinking water.
As a Shia Muslim, Muharram is one of the most significant months of the year. It is a time when we remember the sacrifice of Imam Husayn (AS), his family, and his companions in the tragedy of Karbala. Among them was his six month old son, Ali Asghar (AS), who suffered from extreme thirst in the scorching desert. Despite Imam Husayn's plea for water for his infant son, Baby Ali Asghar was denied even this basic human necessity (learn more at WhoIsHussain.org).
Today, millions of people around the world still struggle to access clean and safe water. Through the Ali Asghar Water Appeal, we have the opportunity to honour the memory of Ali Asghar (AS) by helping provide one of life's most essential needs to those who are suffering from water scarcity. To support this cause, I will be taking on the challenge of hiking Snowdon. Every step of this journey is dedicated to raising awareness and funds for East African, Indian and Pakistani communities that lack access to clean drinking water.
Your donation, no matter how big or small, can make a real difference. Learn more about the appeal here: https://www.world-federation.org/ali-asghar-water-appeal-2026/
Thank you for your support, prayers and donations. Together, we can turn remembrance into action and help transform lives.
