Running miles to create smiles
Giving children in Tanzania the best gift a child can receive
I am running the London Marathon 2025 to ensure talented students in Kigoma, Tanzania can receive a comprehensive education - their gateway out of poverty.
Education is a critical tool in ensuring that young people in poverty stricken areas break out of of the inter-generational cycle of poverty.
My family heritage hails from Tanzania - my mum was born and brought up in bustling streets of Dar es Salaam, my paternal grandfather was born on the foothills of Kilimanjaro in Moshi, my paternal grandmother was born on the idyllic island of Zanzibar and my maternal grandmother grew up in blissful town of Arusha. I have a deep connection with Tanzania and relish the opportunity of giving back to empower students out of poverty.
With many thanks to Stanmore Jafferys for the marathon place. I will be fundraising for Stanmore Jafferys' charity partner, WF Aid.
The cost of sponsoring one child for a whole academic year is £800 - my fundraising target. This will cover the school tuition fee, accommodation, meals, stationery, textbooks, examination fees, uniforms, sports, transportation, medical fees and a stipend.
The example of those who spend their wealth in the cause of Allah is that of a grain that sprouts into seven ears, each bearing one hundred grains. (The Holy Qur'an, 2:261)
